The Chrysalis Moon Festival is about experiencing and honoring Nature—living in cooperation with animals, plants, and other life forms; attuning to the Elements in a sacred place; celebrating the beauty of Earth and Sky; and communing with the Divine in Nature.
Chrysalis Moon Festival encompasses experiencing Community—creating a Pagan tribe together at this special place: sharing songs, meditations, rituals, dreams, food, ideas, fun, magick; sharing work as well as celebration. We teach and learn from each other and expand our visions of the past, present, and future. At Chrysalis Moon Festival we examine ourselves collectively and individually as part of nature spirituality and the many Pagan cultures developing on Planet Earth.
How We Began
In November 2007, Elders from groups all over the Midwest met to discuss the possibility of planning a new festival.
All present have spent decades serving on committees, planning Pagan Pride Days, charity events, and participating in many pagan events and festivals all over the United States.
We came to the meeting in hopes of creating something magical, a welcoming atmosphere for all faiths and a sense of community—of Tribe—that we felt was lacking.
During the planning process we examined what we envisioned a festival should be. We wanted it to be family-friendly, affordable and fun! We wanted it to be a close-knit community; a community that could build on the past and point ourselves to the future in all Her possibilities. We built on the past, acknowledging the wisdom passed on by all those that have done this thing we call pagan festival; but we also looked at where we, as a pagan community, would like to be in the future. Chrysalis Moon Festival emerged, bringing the gifts of magical family and opportunities for spiritual growth, exploration and relaxation.
Nearly 100 people came together at the first Chrysalis Moon in 2008, we have continued to grow, not only in numbers but also on our spiritual paths. There is always a feeling of excitement and hope at the CM festival.
We continue to appreciate the outpouring of support from our pagan community as we build this Tribe. Thanks to all that support, we know Chrysalis Moon Festival will continue to be a festival to remember!
